Areas to be careful with

surrounding the FFS station and the center in the evening, tourist areas of the lakeside in high season (pickpocketing), some busier streets of Viganello and Pregassona

  • Lugano is a very safe city: violent crime is rare and the most common risk is opportunistic petty crime (pickpocketing) in the tourist areas of the lakefront and around the station.

Lugano is served by the TPL urban and regional buses, the TILO regional trains (the Ticino S-Bahn), the Lugano-Ponte Tresa railway (FLP) and by funiculars and boats on the lake.
